Arizona Gives Day Rallies Support for Arizona Nonprofits on April 4, 2017

Theo nguồn tin Zanes Law trên trang mạng prnewswire.com

The statewide, 24-hour day of giving encourages communities to “Invest in Arizona” and donate online.

PHOENIX, AZ (PRWEB) MARCH 20, 2017 Arizona Gives Day is a grassroots, statewide day of giving that invites Arizonans to support their favorite causes by visiting azgives.org and donating either the day-of (April 4) or scheduling their gift in advance to be processed on April 4. Hosted by the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits and Arizona Grantmakers Forum and presented by FirstBank, Arizona Gives Day has raised over $7.4 million for Arizona nonprofits since its founding in 2013. On April 4, the public will be asked to “invest in Arizona” by giving to organizations that are doing important work to improve the well-being of our state. Participating nonprofits include large and small organizations dedicated to arts and culture, children and youth, community development, health services, animal welfare and more. Each one works to better our community, and all are in need of community support. “Investing in our local nonprofits is critical to the success of our communities and our citizens,” says Laurie Liles, President & CEO of Arizona Grantmakers Forum. “Arizona Gives Day proves that anyone can be a philanthropist simply by participating on April 4.” For participating nonprofits, Arizona Gives Day offers an opportunity to raise awareness about their work, connect with new donors and win prize money to supplement individual donations. Last year, Arizona nonprofits raised $2.84 million through the generosity of 16,450 donors, with many giving to multiple organizations. The prizes paid out to participating nonprofits totaled $175,000. “Fundraising continues to be the number one issue facing the sustainability of our nonprofits,” says Kristen Merrifield, CEO of the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits. “Which is why one of the primary goals of Arizona Gives Day continues to be attracting new donors that may have never know about or considered giving to a nonprofit.” In the past, donations large and small have combined to make life-changing advancements possible throughout our state, and this year, the event is poised to be bigger than ever. The number of nonprofits who received donations on Arizona Gives Day grew by 25 percent from 2015 to 2016. And given the early excitement among nonprofits this year, Arizona Gives Day 2017 is on track to make an even larger impact. “FirstBank is proud to be involved with such an incredible day of giving to local nonprofits,” says Bryce Lloyd, President Phoenix Metro, FirstBank. “We believe in promoting strong communities through our support of the vibrant nonprofit sector in Arizona.” ______ About the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits is an action-oriented group of partners across Arizona — both nonprofits and those in the community who support them — dedicated to uniting, strengthening and advancing Arizona’s nonprofit sector. The Alliance envisions an Arizona where all nonprofits are valued, empowered and thriving, with support from grassroots efforts like Arizona Gives Day. Three Solutions To The Problem Of Fake News

Theo nguồn tin Zanes Law trên trang mạng prnewswire.com

Personal Injury Attorney, Doug Zanes, Discusses How to Spot Fake News

PHOENIX, March 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Once again, the issue of fake news is front and center and, this time, takes aim at celebrity and TV host Whoopie Goldberg. Recently, the website the Underground Report posted a story claiming Ms. Goldberg had accused Carryn Owens, the widow of Navy SEAL Ryan Owens, of attending President Trump’s speech to Congress in order to get attention. Ryan Owens died during an attack on a terrorist target in Yemen. The website’s creator has admitted that his story was false and that he simply wrote it to see how quickly it would spread. The story has since been taken down. However, Ms. Goldberg argues that the damage caused by the accusations made in the article has already occurred. She called the story a “horrible lie” and has publically stated that it impacted her relationships with veterans and their families, and endangered the lives of her family and herself. The Underground Report posted last week that the site doubts Ms. Goldberg or her family faced any real danger. It stated “Few people who didn’t already harbor negative feelings towards Goldberg believed the story, and how many people believe that such comments would lead an otherwise harmless person [at least to Goldberg] over the edge and push them to violence or murder.” So who’s position is correct? Does it even matter? Or should this “Fake News” simply stop. Three steps towards putting an end to the fake news problem are discussed below: Check the most suspect stories before they are disseminated on social media platforms or on media websites. Fake news sites need to be branded as fake by people. Currently there is a web extension named Decodex that is linked to a database and, when added to your browser, gives you a warning when you are on a fake news site. Teach children how to read more critically in this new age of media because a recent Stanford study found middle school, high school and college students are easily duped by what they read in social media. The Company’s first fertility control product, ContraPest®, is marketed for use initially in controlling rat infestations. ContraPest’s novel technology and approach targets the reproductive capabilities of both sexes, inducing egg loss in female rodents and impairing sperm development in males. Using proprietary bait stations, ContraPest is dispensed in a highly palatable liquid formulation that promotes sustained consumption by rodent communities. ContraPest is designed, formulated and dispensed to be safe for handlers and non-target species such as wildlife, livestock and pets, in a biodegradable product. In contrast, the historical approach to managing rodent pest populations, rodenticides, carries a high risk of environmental contamination and the poisoning of non-target animals, pets and children. We believe our non-lethal approach, targeting reproduction, is more humane, less harmful to the environment, and more effective in providing a sustainable solution to pest infestations than traditional lethal pest management methods. There is currently no other non-lethal fertility control product approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), or the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), for the management of rodent populations. We believe ContraPest® will establish a new paradigm in rodent control, resulting in improved performance in rodent control over rodenticides, without the negative environmental effects of rodenticides.
