The city of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture is seeking volunteers for its “Feel the Heat: Desert Prints” exhibit at The Gallery @ City Hall, Phoenix City Hall, 200 W. Washington St. The exhibit celebrates the exotic plant forms, pulsing light and dramatic vistas that George Elbert Burr and Oscar Strobel saw and captured in their art when they came to Arizona in the early decades of the 20th Century. Volunteers will serve as hosts and educators, welcoming visitors of all ages and enriching their gallery experience. Gallery visitors may include the general public, city staff, officials and visiting dignitaries. All selected volunteers will participate in a three-hour training program to learn about the gallery exhibit and the Phoenix Municipal Art Collection. The training will include information about public art and other cultural attractions in the downtown core. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and undergo a background check. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and the exhibit is free to the public.
