Mesa Flight Attendants fly under United Express and American Eagle Brands

WASHINGTON, Feb. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Mesa Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), are gearing up for a possible strike at the carrier after mediated negotiations recently stalled. Strike vote ballots will be sent to the over 700 Flight Attendants on February 28, 2017, with a vote count scheduled for March 29, 2017. Mesa Airlines operates flights for American Airlines (as American Eagle) and United Airlines (as United Express). Mesa Flight Attendants have engaged in years of stalled contract negotiations and are underpaid compared to other flight attendants flying for United and American airlines. “Mesa Flight Attendants are falling further behind with substandard wages. We need wage increases now,” said Heather Stevenson, AFA Mesa President. “It is time for management get serious about moving forward on a new and significantly improved contract for Mesa Flight Attendants. Mesa Airlines is an important partner in the highly-profitable American Airlines and United Airlines networks.” With negotiations recently stalled out over economic issues, Mesa flight attendant leaders are seeking membership approval to pressure Mesa Airlines management to agree to a fair contract. This lack of progress could lead to the National Mediation Board (NMB) declaring that negotiations are deadlocked and releasing both parties into a 30-day “cooling off” period leading to a strike deadline. AFA has a trademarked strike strategy known as CHAOS or Create Havoc Around Our System™. With CHAOS, a strike could affect the entire system or a single flight. The union decides when, where and how to strike without notice to management or passengers. Mesa Airlines is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona and provides 600 daily departures to 117 cities, 39 states, the District of Columbia, Canada and Mexico including Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ; and Washington, DC. Planet Shark: Predator or Prey takes guests on an underwater journey–no water required!

(PRWEB) FEBRUARY 02, 2017 Arizona Science Center announces the opening of Planet Shark: Predator or Prey on Sunday, February 5. The exhibit runs through Memorial Day, May 29, 2017. Planet Shark: Predator or Prey takes us on an incredible journey into the underwater world of sharks – without ever getting our feet wet. Cutting-edge SENSORY4TM Technology provides a walk-through, multi-sensory cinematic gallery experience that leaves the viewer deeply immersed in the story of this magnificent yet misunderstood animal. Guests can trace millions of years of evolution, come face-to-face with the great white shark and gain a whole new level of respect for the ocean’s oldest predator we all love to fear. “We are thrilled to feature this exhibition which offers our guests a better understanding of sharks through a fully interactive, entertaining experience. Sharks have a significant role in our ocean ecosystem and predate dinosaurs, insects and mammals,” says Chevy Humphrey, the Hazel A. Hare President and CEO of Arizona Science Center. The creative team behind Planet Shark: Predator or Prey is Grande Exhibitions, an Australian-based producer of museum-quality exhibitions. This engaging exhibition was produced with assistance from experts in the fields of sharks, aquariums and ocean cinematography. Produced on a size and scale never seen before, Planet Shark: Predator or Prey includes awe-inspiring shark models cast from real animals, an extraordinary collection of real teeth and jaws, and extremely rare fossils – some up to 370 million years old. “We are excited to be working with Grande Exhibitions once again. Planet Shark: Predator or Prey will inspire curiosity, bring more understanding to and demystify these magnificent animals,“ says Sari Custer, Vice President of Exhibits and Collections. “Films such as ‘Jaws’ and ‘Sharknado’ have depicted sharks as villains creating a false sense of fear.” Planet Shark: Predator or Prey will feature: The SENSORY4™ Cinematic Gallery– A unique and immersive 45-minute walk-through, multi-sensory cinematic gallery experience. Full-scale shark models cast from real specimens– Examine the real life size of a Tiger, Thresher, Hammerhead and Great White Shark. Plus, examine the differences between a variety of sharks including the Megalodon, the largest shark believed to have ever lived. Anatomy and biology examinations– View detailed examinations of a shark and learn about its hunting strategies and sensory systems. Conservation and Tagging– Read about shark satellite tagging programs and important conservation efforts. Shark Cage– Step inside a full-size shark cage to gain a real sense of what it might be like to meet a Great White up close. Interactive, educational displays and hands-on activities– Have fun with jigsaw puzzles, a shark board game and an interactive touchscreen shark trivia game. This ground-breaking exhibition could not have come at a better time. Years of fishing pressure and media misrepresentation have pushed the shark to the brink of extinction. Washington St., Phoenix, AZ 85004, is open 10 a.m.–5 p.m. 7 days a week. Planet Shark: Predator or Prey will be on exhibit February 5, 2017–May 29, 2017. Phoenix's Historic Orpheum Theatre Reopend 20 Years Ago after Massive Restoration

Theo nguồn tin trên trang của phoenix.gov

Jan. 27, 2017 Did you know that it has been 20 years since Phoenix’s historic Orpheum Theatre reopened after a 12-year, $14M restoration project? On Jan. 28, 1997, the theater reopened to the delight of local residents who held fond memories of the historic venue, which was the last major construction project in Phoenix prior to the Great Depression. Originally constructed as a vaudeville house, the state-of-the-art Orpheum Theatre was ahead of its time and solidified its reputation as a magical place where one could go to enjoy the arts. The theater changed its name to the Paramount and Palace West under different ownership while continuing to serve the entertainment needs of the community, at one point it served as a Spanish movie house. By the early 1980s, the aging facility was in need of major repairs and the City of Phoenix purchased the property and placed it on the National Register of Historic Places. Through public and private support, the theater closed in 1985 to undergo a massive renovation to restore the venue back to its original grandeur. Upon completion of the restoration project, the Orpheum ushered in a new era and celebrated a grand reopening with Carol Channing starring in a performance of Hello Dolly. Over the last two decades, the venue continues to host notable performers such as Lily Tomlin, Bryan Adams, Lewis Black, Boz Scaggs, Eddie Izzard, Jimmy Fallon, David Feherty, Michael Bublé, Louis C.K. and others. The Orpheum Theatre, which originally opened in 1929, will celebrate its 90th Anniversary in 2019. About the Phoenix Convention Center & Venues: The award-winning Phoenix Convention Center is one of the largest convention venues in the United States. APS Announces 2017 Upset Training Scholarship

Theo nguồn tin trên trang mạng prweb.com

Aviation Performance Solutions LLC (APS) announced today its 2017 Upset Prevention & Recovery Training (UPRT) Scholarship Program which will award the selected applicant a comprehensive 3-day APS Professional Pilot Upset Training Course. UPRT taken early in a pilot’s career builds a foundation of skills and intuitive responses to help prevent or recover from unexpected loss of control in-flight, aviation’s leading cause of fatalities, and also improves general manual handling skills and airmanship. MESA, ARIZONA (PRWEB) JANUARY 26, 2017 Aviation Performance Solutions LLC (APS), a global flight training organization, announced today its scholarship award program for 2017. Each year, APS awards one Professional Pilot Upset Training Course, a $4445 value, to a deserving pilot starting their professional aviation career. Now in it’s sixth year, the APS scholarship program is dedicated to supporting the aviation industry as well as APS’ fundamental goal to improve global aviation safety. The Professional Pilot Upset Training Course provides new and seasoned pilots with intense ground and on-aircraft training focused on mitigating the risk of Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I), the number one cause of fatalities in all categories of civil aviation—airlines, business/corporate, and general aviation. The goal of training is always to prevent an upset situation from occurring in the first place, and research has shown that practicing recovery techniques not only gives pilots the often counter-intuitive skills necessary to calmly recover should an upset develop, but this type of training also increases pilots’ ability to recognize and prevent a developing situation before it becomes a problem. Comprehensive Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) also develops general manual handling skills and improves overall pilot airmanship. “APS is honored to be able to continue to give back to the aviation industry through our intense and powerful APS UPRT Scholarship program,” said Paul Ransbury, President of APS. “We are committed to, and enjoy working with, these up and coming professional pilots. Each scholarship winner to date has been very enthusiastic about learning these life-saving skills to benefit them personally and those they fly with throughout their aviation careers.” To be considered for the 2017 APS Upset Recovery Training Scholarship, a prospective recipient must be a current student or recent graduate of an Aviation College or University Aerospace program. The winner will be selected based on their overall GPA, flight ratings/certificates, flight experience, letters of recommendation and a personal essay. Applications for the APS Upset Training Scholarship will be accepted through April 1, 2017. To find out more and apply, please visit: http://www.apstraining.com/scholarship/ ABOUT AVIATION PERFORMANCE SOLUTIONS Aviation Performance Solutions LLC (APS), headquartered at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Arizona, trains thousands of professional pilots and instructors in comprehensive upset prevention and recovery training skill development.
