Arizona’s only “Best Children’s Hospital” continues to be rated a three-star program

PHOENIX, Feb. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Phoenix Children’s Hospital, a “Best Children’s Hospital” as ranked by U.S. News & World Report, has earned the top rating of three stars from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) based on congenital cardiothoracic surgery outcomes data for the period from July 2013 through June 2017. STS is an organization that works to ensure the best possible outcomes following congenital heart surgery. The Cardiothoracic Surgery team at Phoenix Children’s is one of just 11 programs in North America to earn this ranking out of 118 participating programs for the fourth consecutive year. This signifies Phoenix Children’s congenital cardiothoracic surgery outcomes are among the best in the U.S. STS National Database STS National Database “Our patients’ health and outcomes speak for themselves in many ways, though receiving a three-star rating demonstrates our high level of cardiothoracic surgical care,” said Daniel A. Velez, MD, Division Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. “We’re proud of this recognition. It is a testament to the staff and resources we have at Phoenix Children’s, and our dedication to the families who come to us for their son or daughter’s heart surgery.” STS compared data from 118 participating programs. Star ratings are based on the overall risk-adjusted observed-to-expected operative morality ratio for all patients undergoing pediatric and/or congenital cardiac surgery. The system is constructed on overall risk-adjusted operative mortality rates: one star for programs with mortality rates statistically higher than expected, two stars for average mortality, and three stars for lower-than-average mortality rates. More details are available here. The three-star designation comes shortly following U.S. News & World Report’s 2017-18 “Best Children’s Hospital” list, which ranked Phoenix Children’s #18 in the nation in Cardiology and Heart Surgery out of more than 150 pediatric programs surveyed. This was the seventh year in a row Phoenix Children’s ranked as a Best Children’s Hospital, and it remains the only Arizona hospital with this designation. A very lucky woman has acquired an original Daniel O´neill painting for only $1 in a Goodwill store in Scottsdale, Arizona. Appraised at $10,000 on Mearto.com

ARIZONA (PRWEB) FEBRUARY 22, 2018 The painting was set with a price tag of $1,99 – but It was during a 50% off Saturday and the customer got it for $1. The painting was valued at $4,000-10,000 on Mearto.com that appraise art and antiques online. The painting is auctioned in a few weeks. The buyer Stacey Muhammad from Phoenix says “I found the painting at a Goodwill store in Scottsdale, Arizona (Metro Phoenix). It was during a 50% off Saturday. The painting was standing against the wall had a price tag of $1.99 – so I got it for $1.00. I knew nothing about the artist. but I knew it was an original oil painting, plus I just liked the colors in it – so I thought, well I will just buy it to research the artist.” The painting was sent to the online appraisal service Mearto that connects people with art and antique experts. The painting was attributed to the Irish painter Daniel o’neill, born in Belfast (1920-1974) Daniel o’neill was a self-taught artist and began his career painting in his spare time, while working as an electrician. He later got a gallery contract and was able to start living as a full time artist. Daniel o’neill is a sought after artist that frequently sells at auction houses like Adams auctions, Whyte´s and Ross’s Auctions. Stacey Explains further: “After taking it home and researching the artist I didn’t find much, but I did notice that the artist has had paintings that were sold in auctions, but I didn’t know what they sold for. I don’t necessarily have an eye for rare or expensive art but the painting was interesting to look at so I took a chance to see if it was worth anything. After receiving the appraisal, I was excited and surprised of it’s potential value so I took it to a local auction house where they were also super excited about the painting and they too appraised it and convinced me to let them auction it for me, So today the painting is at the auction house for cleanup and being prepared for auctioning in the next few weeks.” View the valuation of the painting here. https://www.mearto.com/items/daniel-o-neill-painting-tiltlee-old-stone-quarry Other online art appraisals can be found here https://www.mearto.com/items
