Catholic Education Arizona releases 1-2-3 Guide to Simplify Tax Credits for Giving to Schools and Charities

Theo nguồn tin trên mạng của phoenix.gov Catholic Education Arizona has updated its guide to Arizona’s different tax credits.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) November 29, 2013

Catholic Education Arizona released today its new 1-2-3 Guide to Arizona Tax Credits, available for free by downloading online at TakeTheCredit.org. The Guide explains and simplifies what a tax credit is and how tax credits benefit taxpayers and the community, particularly Catholic schools and Catholic charitable organizations such as St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Charities and Foundation for Senior Living.

“It’s time to start thinking about ourselves as ‘stewards’ of our tax dollars,” said Paul S. Mulligan, President and C.E.O of Catholic Education Arizona. “If we choose to become informed Catholic taxpayers, we can then make a conscious, faith-based decision about redirecting our tax liability—the money we normally pay to the State—to causes that help advance the mission of the Church in education and service to people in need.”

The state’s largest provider of need-based funds to students attending K-12 Diocese of Phoenix Catholic schools, Catholic Education Arizona has paid-out $124 million in tax credit funded awards since 1998 to low-income families that desire, but cannot otherwise afford, a Catholic education for their children. Nearly half of all enrolled diocesan Catholic school students qualify for and receive financial assistance from Catholic Education Arizona.

The funds for students are collected from taxpayers that elect to take the Private Education Tax Credit in lieu of paying taxes to the State. The 2013 tax credit limits have increased to $1,031 (single filers) and $2,062 (married filing jointly). The deadline for the 2013 Private Education Tax Credit is April 15, 2014, however taxpayers that give by December 31, 2013 will receive also receive a 2013 Federal Tax Deduction for their gift.

Related Catholic organizations like St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Charities and Foundation for Senior Living are involved in running food kitchens, helping evicted families, providing counseling for pregnancy and adoption, working with the homeless and with refugees, and offering affordable housing, home healthcare, adult foster care and services for the elderly. These charities raise monies from the Charitable Tax Credit, which offers maximum credits of $400 (married) and $200 (single). The deadline for taking the 2013 Charitable Tax Credit is December 31, 2013. Donors will also be able to claim a 2013 Federal Tax Deduction for giving to these 501(c)(3).

APS Electric Light Parade Returns to Central Phoenix Dec. 7

Theo nguồn tin trên mạng của phoenix.gov Nov. 20, 2013 2013 Electric Light Parade LogoDozens of entries with hundreds of thousands of lights will brighten the streets of central Phoenix Dec. 7 when the APS Fiesta of Light Electric Light Parade returns for the 27th straight year. Entries for the 2013 parade will be interpreting the theme “Wild West Holiday Roundup.” The parade gets under way at 7 p.m. on Central Avenue at Montebello (just south of Bethany Home Road), heads south to Camelback Road, where it turns east to 7th Street where it turns south to the end point at Indian School Road. Comprehensive event information is online at the Parks and Recreation Department website or by phone at 602-534-FEST. Parade lovers also can come out during parade judging from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, at the event staging area at North Phoenix Baptist Church to see all motorized entries lit up for official review. Students from Arizona State University’s College of Public Programs will be on hand that night with free kids activities, and children also can visit with Santa. Visitors to the judging can enter the staging area at the church parking lot entrance on Montebello Road just east of Central Avenue. Below are some tips for those planning on attending the Electric Light Parade: Consider taking Light Rail to the event and avoiding traffic congestion. The parade route runs right next to the Light Rail stop on Central Avenue, just south of Camelback. The parade is a rain or shine event. Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. Spectators are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for seating. Crowds for this event have grown very large in recent years; if spectators arrive at the parade route within 45 minutes of the start, please respect the viewing positions of those that arrived earlier and take a position along the rear edge of the crowd. Spectators should try to minimize and gather any trash and litter generated during the parade to ease cleanup after the event. Coolers are permitted, though alcohol and glass containers are not allowed. Viewing spots along the parade route are first-come-first-served. Spectators often start arriving three or more hours before parade time to reserve spots. Parking is available on city streets around the parade route and also is on a first-come-first-served basis. Private lots near the parade area often offer parking for a fee. The APS Electric Light Parade is produced by the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department. In addition to entry fees and the title sponsorship of APS, these crucial partners and sponsors also helped to make the parade possible: ABC15, KEZ 99.9, North Phoenix Baptist Church, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Republic Services, Phoenix VA Health Care System, Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns, Arizona Blue Stake, IBEW #387, Keep Phoenix Beautiful, Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Classic Party Rentals, Holiday Lights Decorating, Michael A.
