YouthBuild Program Now Accepting Applications
Theo nguồn tin trên mạng của phoenix.gov Nov. 18, 2013 Teen Boys Working at a Table Saw The city of Phoenix YouthBuild program is accepting applications for youth 16-24 years old who are seeking to earn a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and explore education, life skills and leadership. Interested applicants are required to attend one of the upcoming information sessions that will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, and Friday, Nov. 29, at the Maricopa Skill Center, 1245 E. Buckeye Road. If chosen, participants must be available all day Monday through Friday for six to eight months, reside in the city of Phoenix and not have a high school diploma or GED. The program offers weekly stipends while in training, plus additional performance incentives. YouthBuild participants will build homes in Phoenix. The sustainable construction program gives young men and women the opportunity to earn their GED, gain valuable skills in “green” construction, and train to become leaders in their community. Participants set personal, educational and career goals and develop an educational/professional portfolio. YouthBuild is a national program funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, which awarded the city of Phoenix a $1.1 million grant from the Employment and Training Administration. Phoenix YouthBuild is a partnership between the city’s Community and Economic Development Phoenix Workforce Connection, Arizona Call-A-Teen Resources Inc., Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development, Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona, Labor’s Community Service Agency and the Maricopa Skill Center.
