Reinvent PHX Community Design Workshops

Theo nguồn tin trên mạng của phoenix.gov March 25, 2014 Residents are invited to shape the future of development along Phoenix’s light rail system by participating in a two-week-long Reinvent PHX community design workshop. The “opening event” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 24, and the “closing event” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 4. Both events will take place at the Phoenix Financial Center, 3443 N. Central Ave. “Creating walkable communities connected to light rail spurs the vibrant and energetic corridors we all want, and improves the quality of life for everyone,” said Mayor Greg Stanton. During the two-week workshop, all residents are invited to provide input any time Monday through Friday between the hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or online at myplanphx.com. “Bikeable, walkable communities encourage a more vibrant local business community,” said District 4 Councilwoman Laura Pastor. “When we come together as a community to discuss our vision for our neighborhoods, we are building a strong foundation for future development and growth in our City.” The opening event will review designs for walkable communities along the light rail between downtown Phoenix and 44th Street/Sky Harbor Airport and provide initial input on designs for walkable communities along the light rail between downtown Phoenix and Bethany Home Road/Christown Mall. “Revitalization through adaptive reuse, strengthening our local small business community, designing complete streets and encouraging our rich arts and cultural history are accomplished through partnerships and planning projects such as Reinvent PHX,” said District 8 Councilwoman Kate Gallego. “We hope that residents will take advantage of the opportunity to participate in this process.” The closing event will feature designs for walkable communities along the light rail between downtown Phoenix and Bethany Home Road/Christown Mall. Local businesses will provide free food samples at both the opening and closing events. Reinvent PHX is a community-based planning effort to create walkable communities by guiding future development along the Phoenix light rail system through Transit Oriented Development, a method for building and preserving communities with the goal of making walking, bicycling and using public transit safe, convenient and comfortable for daily living. This planning effort will serve as a model for developing other walkable communities along future light rail corridors throughout Phoenix. Funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Reinvent PHX is a collaborative partnership between the city of Phoenix, HUD, Arizona State University, St. Luke’s Health Initiatives, Sustainable Communities Collaborative, Urban Land Institute, Artlink Phoenix, Local First Arizona, Arizona Chapter of American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), American Institute of Architects (AIA) Phoenix Metro, Discovery Triangle, Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center, GateWay Community College, Arizona Bridge to Independent Living, Valley Metro and the Phoenix Union High School District.
