Central Ave., will host programs in June for students planning to enter 7th through 12th grades in fall 2014. Middle School Students College Planning Essentials 1 – 4 p.m. – Saturday, June 14 Lay the ground work for early college planning, goal setting, career exploration, and more. High School Students College Planning Essentials 2 – 3:15 p.m. – Monday, June 2 Understand the basics of college planning to set you up for success. College Majors and Careers (choose from 2 sessions) 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. – Monday, June 2 4 – 5:15 p.m. – Thursday, June 26 Learn how your interests can help you identify college majors and careers. Types of Colleges (choose from 2 sessions) 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. – Wednesday, June 18 10 – 11:15 a.m. – Saturday, June 28 Explore the various types of colleges to find your ideal fit. Prepping Your College Resume and Portfolio 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. – Saturday, June 21 Learn tips to help capture key milestones for your college resume & portfolio. How to Pay for College 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. – Saturday, June 28 Learn the basics of financial aid and scholarships to help pay for college. All Grades Organizational Skills 4 – 5:15 p.m. – Wednesday, June 18 Learn helpful techniques in note taking, time management, study skills and more. Scholarship Essentials 12 – 1:15 p.m. – Saturday, June 21 Review tips on scholarship searches, essays and letters of recommendation. Essay Writing Essentials 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. – Thursday, June 26 Discover techniques for writing college application and scholarship essays that stand out. Space is limited.
