Labor Day Holiday Notice Aug. 27, 2014 City of Phoenix offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Here’s how city services are affected: Solid Waste Trash and recycling will be collected as usual. There will be no change in collection day. Please place your trash and recycling containers at the curb by 5:30 a.m. Transit Phoenix buses, Dial-a-Ride, and Valley Metro Light Rail will operate on Sunday schedules. Express and RAPID routes will not operate. Transfer Stations The 27th Avenue and North Gateway Transfer Stations will be closed. Library Burton Barr Central Library and all branch libraries normally open on Mondays will be closed.
