Swim Class Registration Begins May 14, City Pools Open May 23

May 13, 2015 ​Registration for the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department’s affordable swim classes and aquatics activities for summer 2015 begins this Thursday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. The schedule has been viewable online since Monday, May 4. Information also is available by calling 602-534-6587 or e-mailing aquatics.pks@phoenix.gov. Swimming lessons cost $15 for a two-week session. Semi-private lessons also are available on weekends at select pools for $45. Lessons are offered for all ages, including adults and seniors. Options also include swim, dive and water basketball teams. The city’s 29 pools will be open from May 23 to 25 (Memorial Day weekend) and May 30 to July 26. Regular hours of operation will be 1 to 7 p.m., six days a week (all pools will be closed on Fridays). Eleven pools also will remain open during weekends in August through Labor Day.* Daily admission at city pools is $3 for adults, and $1 for children and seniors. A season pass for a family of four costs $75 ($7 for each additional family member), while an adult season pass is $30 and a child/senior pass is $20. Admission at 20 pool locations is free for children age 17 and younger through the Kool Kids program, which provides a safe and healthy alternative for youth in at-risk neighborhoods.** The program is made possible thanks to financial support from the Milwaukee Brewers, Salt River Project, Sonic and Watermill Express. * The pools open on weekends in August through Labor Day are Cortez, El Prado, Encanto, Falcon, Hermoso, Maryvale, Paradise Valley, Pecos, Perry, Sunnyslope and Washington. ** The pools at which the Kool Kids program is supported are Alkire, Cielito, Coronado, Eastlake, El Prado, Encanto, Falcon, Grant, Harmon, Hermoso, Holiday, Madison, Marivue, Maryvale, Perry, Pierce, Roosevelt, Starlight, University and Washington.
