SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ (PRWEB) AUGUST 26, 2015 Armed with truckloads of donated brand new athletic shoes and an overwhelming desire to give back, Lori Goldberg’s heart belies her diminutive size. The Paradise Valley resident founded Global Family Philanthropy in 2009 to provide basic needs for impoverished children in Haiti. Over the upcoming Labor Day weekend, Goldberg and her non-profit group will bring their altruistic efforts closer to home, focusing on Sunnyslope Youth Center in north central Phoenix. “All young people deserve to feel safe and have access to positive role models,” Goldberg said. “To support the needs of Sunnyslope Youth Center, all proceeds from this sale will create new after-school enrichment opportunities. We couldn’t be happier about the timing, with many families shopping for back-to-school needs,” she added. To make this Back-to-School Pop-Up Charity venture a reality, several angels had to intervene. First, Shawn Esmaili, founder of Youth Against Poverty, donated over 900 pair of brand new children’s, women’s, and men’s athletic shoes from top manufacturers such as Asics, Puma, Converse, Adidas, Saucony and Vans. The next piece fell into place when Scottsdale Waterfront donated space for the Pop-Up Charity in a prime retail location between Culinary Dropout and David’s Bridal, at 7135 E. Camelback, Suite 115. “Not only will you be able to send your kids back to school in the latest Converse or Vans shoes for as little as $20 a pair, one hundred percent of your purchase will be tax deductible, going toward equipment and supplies for Sunnyslope Youth Center’s at-risk teens,” Goldberg said. Other caring Scottsdale Waterfront merchants have rallied around the cause. Anyone who makes a purchase at the Pop-Up will receive a free appetizer from P.F Chang’s China Bistro, and are eligible for a free month’s membership to FIT Republic (with 6 or 12 month membership agreement). FIT Republic will also honor 20% off Pro Shop or Café purchases with Pop-Up receipt. Even more, visitors to the Pop-Up Charity can enter a drawing to win a $100 gift card to Culinary Dropout or a $50 gift card to Sauce.
