Parks and Recreation Hosting Numerous Fall, Halloween Events

Oct. 13, 2015 The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a series of free or low-cost family-oriented community events this month to celebrate Halloween and the arrival of fall. Fall-O-Ween, Deer Valley Community Center, 2001 W. Wahalla Ln. Saturday, Oct. 17 – 2 to 5 p.m. This annual free community event features arts and crafts, a pumpkin patch, and music and performances in Deer Valley Park. This serves as both a celebration of the season and a Phoenix Police Department Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods (G.A.I.N.) event. For more information, call 602-495-3735. Family Fright Night, Washington Activity Center, 2240 W. Citrus Way Thursday, Oct. 22 – 6 to 9 p.m. This fifth annual event promises “a wicked good time for everyone” and features carnival games and activities starting at 6 p.m. A free family movie begins at 7 p.m. Free popcorn will be available (while supplies last). Scaradise Valley, Paradise Valley Community Center, 17402 N. 40th St. Saturday, Oct. 24 – 11 a.m to 2 p.m. This event is for youth up to 10 years old. Admission is $1 or a canned food donation. Boo Fest 2015, Paseo Highlands/Beuf Community Center, 35th Ave. and Pinnacle Peak Rd. Saturday, Oct. 24 – 6 to 9 p.m. This free family-oriented event features carnival games, hay rides, a pumpkin patch, haunted train ride, costume contests, climbing wall, inflatable bouncers and live music. Trunk or Treat, Longview Neighborhood Recreation Center, 4040 N. 14th St. Thursday, Oct. 29 – 5:30 to 7 p.m. A free community event featuring trick or treating in the parking lot (trunk or treat), carnival games, costume parade and concessions. Van Buren St. Thursday, Oct. 29, – 6 to 8 p.m. This free community event features arts and crafts, music, a dance and costume contest, informational booths and free hot dogs.
