Feb. 19, 2016 Phoenix Vice Mayor Daniel Valenzuela is helping kick off PHX Startup Week Feb. 22 – Feb. 26 with the opening Fireside Chat at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22. The five-day event is a chance for members of the Phoenix region startup and innovation ecosystem to learn, engage industry experts, share ideas, and network. The 2015 event attracted 2,300 participants. “The startup and innovation industry added 12,000 jobs to the Phoenix market between 2012 and 2014 and accounted for investment of more than $300 million in just one 15-month period,” Vice Mayor Valenzuela said. “These numbers show that our startup, tech and innovation ecosystem is a critical engine in growing our economy and our competitiveness globally.” Vice Mayor Valenzuela’s Fireside Chat will be held at 11 a.m., Feb. 22 at 111 W. Monroe St., 19th Floor, in downtown Phoenix. “Phoenix’s success in today’s technology and innovation marketplace relies on attracting, developing and retaining top talent,” the vice mayor added. “Our capacity to develop talent is making huge strides and PHX Startup Week is a shining example of the robust and still growing talent development pipeline.” PHX Startup Week is free and features activities throughout the Valley. Sessions will focus on sales techniques, scaling and growth, marketing and branding, funding and finances, community development and business basics, among many others.
