In an Effort to Protect Arizonans From the Scorching Summer Months, Parker & Sons Offers Coupons

The Arizona summer can be a sweltering inferno inhospitable without fully functioning air conditioning. So, Parker & Sons, rated number one service provider several times over, offers a coupon for a discounted air-conditioning tune up.

TEMPE, Ariz. (PRWEB) July 10, 2015 PHOENIX, July 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — For over forty years Parker & Sons has been servicing the plumbing and HVAC needs of the valley upholding Grandpa Parker’s legendary customer satisfaction guarantee which ensures “comfort today or else don’t pay.” Indeed, this commitment to customer service and care plays no small part in the success of Arizona native company. The discounted air-conditioning coupon is just one more way to strengthen the bond between Parker & Sons and the Phoenix community. Logo – http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20150722/239887LOGO “This coupon is our way of making sure that customers are prepared for the summer months. Nothing is worse than being without air conditioning in Phoenix during the summer. Do yourself a favor and get your AC checked before the summer arrives,” said Josh Kelly, partner at Parker & Sons. The Arizona summer is almost more dangerous than a war zone. If it’s not the 120 heat that gets you, it will be the dry climate which makes everyone privy to dehydration and heat exhaustion. Or perhaps a capricious monsoon storm will be your assailant. These storms appear without warning and are accompanied by dangerous deadly winds and dense heavy rain fall. Add dust grime and dirt and this whirlwind of an unpredictable storm can put you amidst a dire strait. Lastly, the summer is when Arizona’s most notorious wildlife makes an appearance. Cold blooded reptiles like rattle snakes love baking in the hot sweltering sun. Hiker be ever vigilant on the trail. But the most important summer survival tip is to gain perspective. Realize that the summer only lasts for about four months and the remaining eight months of Arizona’s climate are considered ideal by most. Remind yourself constantly that the scorching heat is only temporary and things will soon get better. About Parker and Sons Keeping You Comfortable With Expert Heating, Cooling & Plumbing Service Since 1974. July 27 Last Day To Register To Vote For August 2015 Phoenix Election

Theo nguồn tin trên trang của phoenix.gov

July 20, 2015 July 27 is the last day to register to vote for residents wanting to participate in the Aug. 25 Phoenix Mayor and City Council Election. Voters will elect a mayor and council members in four districts, and decide five ballot measures. To be eligible to vote, a person must be a registered voter and reside within Phoenix at least 29 days immediately prior to the election. Residents can register to vote online at servicearizona.com or they can pick up voter registration forms in person at most libraries and government facilities, including Phoenix City Hall, 200 W. Washington St., 15th Floor. The forms must be mailed or delivered to the City Clerk department. Registration forms also are available from the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office at recorder.maricopa.gov/elections/registrationform.aspx. Residents with questions about voter registration can contact the Maricopa County Elections Department at 602‑506‑1511. All voters in the city will elect a mayor and decide five ballot measures, including two proposed amendments to the City Charter related to pension reform and electronic payments. Other ballot measures relate to the General Plan, an Alternate Expenditure Limitation, and a Comprehensive Transportation Plan. Voters residing in City Council Districts 1, 3, 5 and 7 will elect councilmembers. There is no election for councilmember in Council Districts 2, 4, 6, and 8 this year because the terms of the council members are staggered. Residents may visit phoenix.gov/mayorcouncil/find-my-council-district or call 602-261-VOTE (8683) to determine the district in which they reside. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast for an office in the August election, a runoff election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Because of the number and length, the ballot for this election will be longer than usual as it must include the full text of two charter amendments – Propositions 102 and 103. The official ballot will be three double-sided pages. However, voters will be able to mark their choices for all races and ballot measures on the front and back of the first sheet of the ballot. Voters only need to return that first sheet of the ballot for counting. Eligible voters on the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL) will begin receiving their early ballots by mail on Thursday, July 30. In-person early voting also begins on July 30 at Phoenix City Hall during normal business hours. Residents not on the PEVL may vote early by submitting a request form, which is available at phoenix.gov/elections and at city public service counters and city libraries. This form must be returned to the City Clerk by 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14. Also, a Sample Ballot and Publicity Pamphlet will be mailed the week of July 20 to voters unless a voter has requested to obtain the pamphlet electronically. The pamphlet will have all voting locations and the dates and times each are open. The Sample Ballot and Publicity Pamphlet also is available online at phoenix.gov/elections or from the City Clerk Department. More information about the August election is available by contacting the City Clerk Department at 602-261-VOTE (8683), or by using the 7-1-1 Relay System, following on Twitter @PHXElections or visiting phoenix.gov/elections. SENATORS JOHN McCAIN & JEFF FLAKE INTRODUCE CRIMINAL ALIEN DEPORTATION ACT

Jul 13 2015 Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Jeff Flake (R-AZ) today introduced the Criminal Alien Deportation Act, legislation that would require Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials to detain undocumented immigrants arrested or convicted of serious crimes and deport them within 90 days. The bill is a Senate companion to the Stop Catch and Release Act of 2015 (Grant’s Law) introduced in the House this month by Representative Matt Salmon (R-AZ), and co-sponsored by Arizona Representatives Trent Franks (R-AZ), David Schweikert (R-AZ), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Martha McSally (R-AZ) and others that would put an end to the Obama Administration’s policy of releasing illegal immigrants with pending criminal charges from prison. The legislation follows the shooting of 21-year-old QuikTrip clerk Grant Ronnebeck of Mesa, Arizona by an illegal immigrant who had been prematurely released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) despite having been previously convicted of a felony as he awaited the outcome of his deportation proceeding. In addition, this month, 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle was fatally shot in San Francisco, California by an undocumented immigrant with seven felony convictions who had been released due to a law that deemed him ineligible for extended detention. According to DHS, between 2010 and 2014, 122 undocumented immigrants who were released from prison while awaiting deportation trials were later charged with homicides. “It is simply irresponsible to release known criminals into the public because their court hearings take years to process,” said Senators McCain and Flake. “Our bill would stop the reckless catch-and-release policies that have led to the murders of Grant, Kate, and many others by providing states the resources they need to quickly complete deportation trials. In Arizona, we’ve seen the success of detaining and swiftly prosecuting criminal immigrants under Operation Streamline, and our bill would be an important step in extending a ‘zero tolerance’ approach nationwide.” To address the shortage in qualified immigration judges that are needed to speed up deportation proceedings, the bill would allow the U.S. Attorney General to designate up to 100 temporary immigration judges to ensure that states have appropriate resources to manage and complete these cases. The bill would also highlight the success of Operation Streamline, which has proven to reduce recidivism rates of illegal immigrants by enabling authorities to expeditiously prosecute those entering or reentering illegally using a “zero tolerance” approach. Finally, the bill would require DHS to submit a report to Congress each year with critical information about its detainment, prosecution and deportation of illegal immigrants. The scope of DHS’ catch-and-release policy came to light as a result of a February 2015 letter from Flake and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) pressing the agency for answers in the aftermath of Ronnebeck’s murder. In 2014, Senators McCain and Flake sent letters questioning how DHS manages the release of undocumented immigrant detainees and responds to threats on the southern border following ICE’s release of thousands of detainees – many with criminal records – without guidance from DHS or other Administration officials. Senators McCain and Flake also sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder last year on the Justice Department’s plan to cease prosecuting all first-time and some repeat illegal border crossers under Operation Streamline, and introduced legislation expressing the success of Operation Streamline in reducing recidivism among illegal border crossers. The text of the legislation is here. ###

Governor Doug Ducey Volunteers At Back To School Clothing Drive For Arizona Children In-Need

JULY 15, 2015 PHOENIX – Governor Doug Ducey today joined volunteers at Grand Canyon University for the 21st annual New Clothes, New Beginnings event – a yearly Back to School Clothing Drive that provides school uniforms, shoes, backpacks and school supplies to thousands of underprivileged elementary school children in Arizona. “It was rewarding and worthwhile to be able to participate in this great cause, and to know that thousands of Arizona children went home with quality clothes and school supplies they otherwise may not have had,” said Governor Ducey. “All children deserve to enter the school year with the confidence and resources they need to be successful – and because of this excellent partnership with Back to School Clothing Drive, BHHS Legacy Foundation, GCU and others, these kids will have that opportunity this year.” This year, more than 5,500 students from 140 schools and 40 districts across the state gathered to “shop” for the upcoming school year. Governor Ducey joined a group of Valley elementary children in the GCU arena as they moved from station to station picking out items that, by the end of the event, amounted to an estimated $2 million worth of clothing and supplies for our children most in-need. The BHHS Legacy Foundation, a partner of New Clothes, New Beginnings, sends an additional 7,000 filled backpacks to students in northern Arizona and local social service agencies. ###
