18TH ANNUAL SEPTEMBER 11 MEMORIAL CEREMONY

Members of the public and City of Phoenix employees are invited to attend the 18th Annual September 11 Memorial Ceremony at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11 in the Phoenix City Hall Atrium, 200 Washington Street.
The event is in memory of the lives lost during the terrorist attacks on our nation on September 11, 2001, and includes the posting of an American flag that flew over Ground Zero during the rescue and recovery operation at the World Trade Center and a performance by a student choir from the Arizona School for the Arts.
On September 11, 2001, four commercial airliners bound for the west coast were hijacked by terrorist extremists. In the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history, a total of 2,977 people were killed in New York City, Washington, D.C., and outside of Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
On the 18th anniversary of the atrocity, City of Phoenix employees will honor and remember those lost. Members of the public, City management, elected officials, and members of the Phoenix Fire and Police Departments will pay their respects to the victims and survivors of 9/11 at this very solemn annual event.
