Papago Golf Course – A Phoenix Arizona Tradition

Theo nguồn tin trên mạng của prweb.com Papago Golf Course is a staple for many golfers in Phoenix and its neighboring cities. Let’s take a closer look at this gem nestled in the desert

Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) December 16, 2013

A Gem in the Desert:

Owned by the City of Phoenix, Papago Golf Course has presented a challenging course since first opening in 1963. Course architect Billy Bell (of Torrey Pines fame, among others), created an absolute gem with Papago that has withstood the test of time and remains one of the top courses in the area. The course had a major restoration in 2008, but managed to keep its old charm with a smooth layout and strategic bunkering.

(View the full press release including numerous photos of Papago, renderings of holes, plus additional useful info for Phoenix golfers)

Papago recently received national recognition by Golf Week, being named to their 2013 top 50 municipal courses in the country!

The course is centrally located (about 15 minutes from downtown Phoenix and Sky Harbor), making it exceptionally convenient to the masses. It is easily accessible from Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Mesa, Chandler, and other nearby cities.

Papago plays long at 6,382 yards from the white tees, and 7,333 from the back tees. The four par 3’s on the course average 187 yards from the white tees and a whopping 230 yards from the tips.

As with many City owned courses, the green fees are very reasonable, making Papago an unbeatable value for golfers in search of a championship caliber golf venue that won’t dent your wallet. The old saying “you get what you pay for” certainly does not apply here as Papago is very well maintained and presents the golfer with an immensely challenging round while providing spectacular views in every direction.

What sets apart Papago from most in the Valley of the Sun is it's unbeatable value coupled with stunning landscaping with magnificent desert backdrops, creating an entirely different feel than many of the major corporate resort courses in town. At the same time, the course presents a seamless mix of fairway & greenside bunkers, large greens and water hazards. The course appears to naturally blend into the surrounding landscape, and its charm will draw you back to the course over and over.

Course Highlights:

Hole 1:
A great starting hole and is a great representation of what Papago has to offer. A long Par 5 (530-560 yards) with a single well positioned greenside bunker that will collect approach shots from golfers who shy away from the adjacent greenside lake. While officially listed as the #15 handicap hole, a back pin placement makes it one of the toughest for short and long hitters alike. Playing this lovely hole reminds the golfer why they chose to play golf at Papago in the first place.

Hole 3:
Bombs away on this 424-467 yard par 4! A long, well struck tee shot is a must on this lengthy hole if you want any chance for a birdie. Three greenside bunkers protect the front of the green, so the chances of running your approach shot onto the green are slim. Long hitters will have a tremendous advantage on this hole.

Hole 11:
Papago has kindly provided their golfers a shorter Par 3, but it tests nerves as this entire shot is over water. A pin placement towards the left side of this large green makes the shot especially challenging as the back bunker comes into play.

Hole 16:
This hole presents the golfer with a classic dilemma. With a massive fairway bunker to the right and a well situated tree left of the fairway, laying up to the fat part of the fairway can be enticing. Be warned, though, you’re left with a very long approach shot if you decide to play it conservatively.

Get Out And Play Papago:

As municipal courses such as Torrey Pines, Bethpage Black and Chambers Bay are deemed worthy to host a U.S. Open, the bar of quality for such courses has been raised to extreme heights — And Papago is no different. In a golf crazed metropolitan area, home to over 4 million residents, Papago Golf Course is a destination for serious golfers and beginners alike. While Papago doesn’t get the national attention of some other courses in the area, the quality of this course is no secret to Phoenix area residents, and perhaps they may want to keep it that way!

Come on out and play this gem in the desert and see for yourself. While you do, use the Birdie Apps golf GPS app which has Papago Golf Course professionally mapped. It is completely free and works on all gps-enabled phones and tablets.

Call the pro shop at 602-275-8428 to book your tee time now, or go to the Papago Online Tee Times page to book a tee time online.

The Arizona Pain Foundation Brings Christmas to Hundreds of Refugees in Phoenix

Theo nguồn tin trên mạng của prweb.com The Arizona Pain Foundation will help host a “Christmas Party for Children Around the World” this Sunday, December 15th at the City of Grace Church in downtown Phoenix (402 E Monroe St. Phoenix, AZ.). Through this 6th annual charity event, volunteers will provide Christmas gifts for over 800 children, as well as groceries, cosmetic items, and dinner for each of the families.

Scottsdale, AZ. (PRWEB) December 14, 2013

Volunteers from Arizona Pain Specialists’ charity organization, The Arizona Pain Foundation, (http://www.arizonapain.com) will be hosting their 6th annual Christmas event for over 800 refugee children and their families this Sunday, December 15th, at City of Grace Church in downtown Phoenix. The event will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

“The Arizona Pain Foundation produces numerous events every year that touch people’s lives in a very meaningful way,” says foundation Co-Founder, Dr. Paul Lynch, M.D. “Many of our volunteers, including staff from Arizona Pain Specialists, look forward to this particular event – as it is such a joy to give Christmas gifts to needy children and their families.”

This “Christmas Party for Children Around the World,” will benefit less fortunate families from other countries who have come to the Phoenix area with very few possessions. Volunteers from the Arizona Pain foundation will serve alongside Arizona Medical Clinic and City of Grace Church to provide Christmas gifts for each of the children and a dinner for the families. Additional goodies provided include fresh produce groceries donated by Integrity Health, and a bag of essential cosmetic items for each of the women.

“These children come from Liberia, Iraq, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Somalia and celebrating their first Christmas in the US and also first time ever,” says Dr. Andy Le, M.D., founder of Arizona Medical Clinic.

The Christmas party’s theme is “Adventure to the North Pole,” where the children will be lead in a train formation though various rooms in the sanctuary, with each stop having a different activity such as face painting, balloon animals, a bounce house, and a special guest appearance by Santa Clause. Many of these children left impoverished and devastating environments to come to America. Their families left everything behind as they had fled war and chaos with only those possessions they could carry with them.

“One of the core tenants at Arizona Pain Specialists is a spirit for service; service to our patients and to our communities,” says Joe Carlon, CEO of Arizona Pain Specialists. “This event reminds us of our duty to serve others and it is with great joy that we share the spirit of Christmas with so many wonderful families.”

For more information on how you can donate to these children and families, please contact Andy Le at Arizona Medical Clinic, 602-432-6579.

About the Arizona Pain Foundation

The Arizona Pain Foundation, which was started by Arizona Pain Specialists’ physicians Dr. Paul Lynch, M.D., and Dr. Tory McJunkin, M.D., organizes community service and charitable events each year as a way of giving back to the Phoenix areas. The Arizona Pain Foundation is comprised of Arizona Pain Specialists’ employee volunteers, and serves as a way for the employees of Arizona Pain Specialists to give back to those in need –both locally and abroad. This non-profit foundation is funded solely by 5% of all proceeds from the Arizona Pain Specialists three Phoenix-based clinics in Scottsdale, Chandler, and Glendale, AZ. Founded in 2009, the foundation’s mission is to share the love of God by bringing compassion, healing and resources to those in need. This is accomplished by supporting international missionaries, by supporting local nonprofit community work and by promoting prescription drug abuse resistance to youth in Arizona.

And, truth be told, it’s pretty fun for us adults involved, too!” WTAP is a nonprofit organization founded by Phil and Carolyn Manning to honor Terence Manning, Phil’s brother, who lost his life in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. WTAP helps refugees with their efforts to build a new life in Phoenix by collecting donations of furniture, household goods, clothing and food. Valenzuela joined Phoenix Afterschool Center (PAC) students in action today, along with city partners who support the city’s after school fitness and nutrition education programs. Students at Tomahawk Elementary in the Cartwright School District participated in a fitness activity and received nutrition education at the west Phoenix PAC site – part of their after school curriculum. The U.S. Department of Agriculture funds the Nutrition Education and Training (NEAT) program, and the state administers it, through the Maricopa County Department of Public Health and University of Arizona Cooperative Extension – Nutrition Network. A new FitPHX partnership this year brings the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Kohl’s FIT program to PAC. The program encourages physical activity by tracking mileage and minutes through a website. PAC staff enters the data, following student exercise through fun and healthy activities. Through the end of November, the FIT program has tracked 1,460 PAC students who have moved more than 180,000 miles, an average of 123 miles per student. Phoenix Children’s Hospital also is providing nutrition education training at city Housing and Head Start sites – 65 children and 185 adults have received 218 hours of classes through those city programs. The Parks and Recreation Department’s PAC program currently serves 2,200 students at 45 schools around the city. Nutrition, heatlh and fitness are components of the overall PAC Program, which also includes educational enrichment, arts and cultural activities, and sports and games. FitPHX is a citywide initiative, led by Mayor Stanton, Councilman Valenzuela and Olympic Gold Medalist Misty Hyman, with the goal of improving health and wellness in the region and making the Phoenix area one of the healthiest in the nation.
