Bike Share Vendor Begins Street Demonstration

Theo nguồn tin trên mạng của phoenix.gov Dec. 30, 2013 GRID LogoResidents will start seeing new GRID bikes around downtown over the next month, as the city’s bike share vendor CycleHop LLC began an on-street test of the rentable green bike system’s operations and technology in December. “Phoenix can be a world-class bicycling city, with the support of its cycling community and great initiatives like bike share,” said Mayor Greg Stanton. “Key to that success will be the rider experience, and this street demonstration helps us learn how to hit the ground rolling and launch GRID bikes in the best way.” Cyclehop’s green GRID bicyles and temporary green bike racks are located at three sites in downtown Phoenix: near Fifth Street and Van Buren Street, at Second Avenue and Adams Street near Phoenix City Hall, and on Central Avenue near Taylor Mall by ASU’s downtown campus. A group of testers comprised mostly of CycleHop employees and city staff will use the system as typical customers, booking bikes online, via a mobile device, or on the bike itself; making trips for work or errands; and returning the bicycles to one of the hub locations later in the day, according to John Romero, director of CycleHop’s Phoenix operations.“ As we gear up to a system launch this spring, it’s important for us to get feedback from riders by beta testing our communications and tracking systems,” noted Romero. “The street test lets us see how customers are interacting with the bike, and what works best for different parts of our operation, like the restocking of bike hubs.” At the end of the street demonstration period, participants will be surveyed on their experience, and that feedback will be used to finalize preparations for the system launch in April. “It was key for us to see the bicycle interface tested, early in the process. As we are getting third-generation bike share technology with the rollout of this program, we want to make sure all the positives of being on the cutting edge were clear to users,” said Wylie Bearup, director, Street Transportation Department. More information on the city’s bike share program, and online pre-sale of memberships, is available online at the Grid Bikes website. Media Contact: Matthew Heil 602-534-1597

Phoenix Air Conditioning & Heating Contractor Gives Tips to Help Prepare for the Cold Winter Season

Theo nguồn tin của Air Care Cooling & Heating trên mạng prweb.com Air Care Cooling & Heating in Phoenix, Arizona offers tips to help homeowners prepare for the cold temperatures.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) December 26, 2013

Tips to Help Busy People Prepare for the Cold Winter Season

Preparing the home for the cold weather takes a lot of work and many homeowners have a scarcity of time available. Caring for a home can actually feel like a full-time job, especially when people have yet to get a routine in place. Unfortunately, failing to prepare home for AZ winter can lead to emergencies that will create no choice but to focus on problems. The best way to avoid these emergencies is to find preparation solutions that work for specific circumstances. This way, no matter a homeowner’s lifestyle and other obligations, all they need to get done for the cold weather is accomplished.

What are some of the things that can be done to ensure cold weather prep is completed?

Start Early

It is never too early to begin thinking about winter weather prep. Some people even schedule heat service Phoenix, AZ for mid-summer in anticipation of the cold weather. Even those who are not prepared to bring in professional service technicians before the first wisp of autumn can get a few things accomplished early on. Make a list of everything that needs to be completed and put it into a schedule. Sometimes planning is enough to keep things focused and ensure they are completed in time.

Divvy Up Tasks for Everyone

Once a list is made, decide who handles what in the household. When one person is forced to take all of the responsibility for winter prep, things can fall by the wayside. If each person has a little bit to do, things go smoothly. Assign one person the task of insulating the windows, another the task of scheduling heater service, and so on. When several people have just a few things to accomplish, things tend to fall into place better than if one person is overwhelmed by all there is to do.

Keep Tabs from Year to Year

Getting the house ready for winter the first year or two is a tough undertaking, but once a homeowner understands all that is involved, things go a little easier. Save the to-do list from year to year, so everyone knows exactly what is needed. Once a routine is established, it is a lot easier to get things done in preparation of the winter weather.

Undo as Little as Possible at the End of Each Season

Consider whether there are winter projects that can be left alone throughout the year. Are there windows insulated in rooms that are rarely used? Just leave those insulated all year round. This might not save a lot of time, but every few minutes count when there is so much to do.

Call in the Pros

Still not sure it is possible to get everything done in preparation of the winter weather? It might be time to call in a professional to handle a few of the jobs. The truth is there are some things homeowners should not attempt to do. A Phoenix A/C professional is needed to service the furnace and clean the fireplaces and handle a variety of jobs that require special skills and training. Air Care Cooling & Heating can help homeowners prep for the coming cold and avoid weather-related emergencies in their homes this winter.

Kicking For The Dream Reaches $30,000 Fundraising Goal to Fight Ovarian Cancer with 9 Days Left in its Fundraising Campaign

Theo nguồn tin trên mạng của The Phoenix Star With 9 days left in its fundraising campaign, Kicking For The Dream has reached its fundraising goal of $30,000 to help fight ovarian cancer, according to Kicking For The Dream founder NFL kicker Billy Cundiff

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) December 21, 2013

After surpassing its original fundraising goal of raising $20,000, Kicking For The Dream has now reached its extended fundraising goal of $30,000 according to Kicking For The Dream Founder NFL Kicker Billy Cundiff.

Cundiff says he is overwhelmed by the success of Kicking For The Dream's fundraising efforts, adding that people are still raising money – and awareness- with 9 days left in its fundraising campaign.

“We are thrilled that we have reached our goal of raising $30,000,” says Cundiff who is the kicker for the Cleveland Browns. “The people participating in Kicking For The Dreams fundraising effort continue to raise awareness about ovarian cancer, as they raise money to support cutting edge research.”

Cundiff says Kicking For The Dream was created to bring kicking specialists together -from every level- to join in the fight against ovarian cancer. And it has done exactly that.

Some of the kicking specialists who have joined Kicking For The Dream’s effort represent the greatest names in NFL kicking history such as Morten Anderson, Neil Rackers and Matt Stover. Some are high school kickers such as Grant Ryerse, Joseph Giglio and Luke Taylor.

And one very special Kicking For The Dream fundraiser is ovarian cancer survivor Jill Pall, who has already raised over $8,700 during the campaign, and learned how to kick at the same time.

“Kicking specialists are some of the most caring and generous people I know,” says Cundiff. “And the support Kicking For The Dream has received from so many kicking specialists in this fundraising effort just confirms that.”

Cundiff says all money raised by Kicking For The Dream goes directly to Colleen’s Dream Foundation, a foundation he and his wife Nicole started in 2012 as a result of his mother-in-laws’ battle with ovarian cancer.

“Many women succumb to this disease within a short period of time, because unlike cervical or breast cancer, ovarian cancer does not have a standardized early detection procedure,” says Cundiff. “That is what happened to my mother-in-law, Colleen Drury.”

Cundiff says it was Colleen’s “dream” that someday other women would not have to go through what she went through when faced with ovarian cancer.

“Colleen felt it was important to raise money for research that will lead to reliable early detection testing and improved treatment for ovarian cancer,” says Cundiff. “Because so little is known about ovarian cancer in proportion to other women’s health issues, we have an incredible opportunity for research and education.”

About Kicking For The Dream:

Billy Cundiff, who is the kicker for the Cleveland Browns, and has been an NFL kicker for over 10 years for teams such as the Cowboys, Saints, Ravens and Redskins, launched Kicking For The Dream in May of 2013, as an effort to support Colleen’s Dream Foundation, a foundation which raises money to support research for the early detection of, and improved treatment for, ovarian cancer.

About Colleen's Dream Foundation:

Colleen’s Dream Foundation started in 2012 and supports research for early detection and improved treatment for ovarian cancer.

The story of Colleen’s Dream started in 2007 when Billy Cundiff’s mother-in-law, Colleen Drury, was diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer. It was only then that Colleen and her family realized a new world that was filled with invasive surgery, harsh chemotherapy, and lots of uncertainty.

Colleen’s Dream Foundation believes it is important to raise money for research that will lead to reliable early detection testing and improved treatment for ovarian cancer. Because so little is known about ovarian cancer in proportion to other women’s health issues, we have an incredible opportunity for research and education.

Colleen’s Dream is working with some of the top research hospitals and universities that are researching ovarian cancer. By offering seed funding to young investigators, the Foundation funds cutting-edge research by some of the brightest, young minds in the world.

Colleen’s Dream Foundation is a qualified 501 (c) (3) tax exempt non-profit organization based in Phoenix, Arizona.
