City of Phoenix on Standby for Storms and Possible Flooding

Theo nguồn tin trên trang của phoenix.gov

Sep. 21, 2015 The official end of the monsoon season is near, but it doesn’t mean the chance of storms has subsided. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch until Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 5 p.m. The Valley could expect to see as many as three total inches of rain in this time period. City of Phoenix storm teams are already on standby, preparing in many ways. Sand is available for free at 12 fire stations. Residents must bring their own bags and shovels. Phoenix’s Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security also will be closely monitoring the storm from the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The EOC provides real-time monitoring capabilities and connectivity which is crucial during storm response between the city, county, and other cities in the area. Other key city departments, including Street Transportation and Public Works, have crews on standby, ready to respond. Crews have prepped and checked all storm response equipment, and are making sure that critical catch basins are clear to ensure proper water drainage. In addition, the city also recently marked the one-year anniversary of the massive 100-year storm that swept through the Valley on Sept. 8, 2014 by highlighting the completed and planned improvements to the city’s stormwater retention and flood control infrastructure and other key repairs. You can read about those improvements here. Jeanette Bunn Travel To Go President Shares List of Top 3 Farmers Markets in Phoenix

Travel To Go highlights the best places to go for fresh, local products when traveling in Phoenix this fall.

SAN DIEGO, CA (PRWEB) SEPTEMBER 16, 2015 When people travel to Phoenix for the first time, many of them expect to see nothing but desert in every direction. They are usually surprised by the sheer size of the city and the fact that there is farmland surrounding it. Jeanette Bunn of Travel To Go wants to help travelers experience even more of local life in Phoenix. It is with that in mind that she has put out its list of the top three farmers markets in Phoenix. Visitors may not believe it at first, but there is enough produce and other locally made goods here to support not just one, but many farmers markets. 1. Downtown Phoenix Open Air Market: One of the biggest farmers markets in Phoenix, the Downtown Phoenix Open Air Market meets at Phoenix Public Market every Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. Locals crowd in for this one-stop local shopping destination for the bounty of locally grown veggies and locally made cupcakes, breads, chocolates, BBQ sauces, jewelry, clothing, pickles, coffee, tortillas, hummus and much more. Jeanette Bunn says that while many of the vendors do hand out samples, food trucks are also available. 2. Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market: Local farms such as Blue Sky Farms, Maya Farm and McClendon Select offer their goods each Saturday at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers’ Market. There are offerings here of exotic fruits and veggies, delicious sweets, and fresh breads from the local Arizona Bread Company. Jeanette Bunn shares that this market is a little pricey compared to the others on this list, but visitors will find the quality of the products match the cost. Also, Dogs are allowed at this farmers market, as long as they are on a leash, and some vendors even sell healthy doggy treats. 3. Super Farm Market at Superstition Farms: Visitors will have to make a trek out to Mesa for the Super Farm Market, but Jeanette Bunn, Travel To Go President, shares that it is worth the drive. This market is indoors and held on an actual dairy farm every Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitors can load up on fresh produce, natural grass-fed beef, sustainable seafood, local honey, and fresh baked breads. Because this is a dairy farm, visitors will also find fresh made ice cream, butter and farmers cheese. On top of all that, this market also has a petting zoo. Whether it is Phoenix or somewhere else in the world, Travel To Go is the industry leader people trust when seeking luxury accommodations for their next vacation. With years of experience and expertise, Travel To Go has the ability to help travelers find the vacation they have always wanted. Make Their Day With a Personalized Lemon, and Help a Great Cause Too

Theo nguồn tin của Lemonade Smiles trên trang mạng PRNewswire PHOENIX, Sept. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Most of us already know that lemons have many health benefits, but there’s now another benefit that this almighty fruit offers. “Lemonade Smiles” launched online earlier this month, at www.lemonadesmiles.com, and lets people send a real, personalized lemon to anyone within the United States. Photo – http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20150909/265034 Photo – http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20150909/265035 The company also proudly supports Operation Smile, by donating $1 from every Lemonade Smiles purchase to this worthy non-profit organization. Operation Smile is dedicated to providing safe facial reconstruction surgeries to children throughout the world. Founder David Sinuk recently launched Lemonade Smiles in an effort to offer a creative way for people to reach out and connect with friends and family in a more personal (and fun) way, while sending words of encouragement, get well wishes and more. “We are here to cheer people up,” says Sinuk, “as we all know someone who could use a pick me up, or other small reminder that we are thinking of them. For less than $10 you can make their day, put a smile on their face and do some good for Operation Smile along the way.” Lemonade Smiles encourages people to send a spontaneous personalized lemon right from their smartphone or laptop, which is then prepared and packed for quick shipment. First class postage is included (as is a small packet of sugar, to keep with the “lemonade” theme). Sinuk sees this business venture as a fun way to spread good thoughts. “People love to open their mailbox and receive an unexpected gift, especially when they are going through something tough like an illness or other challenging event. We hope to play a small role in helping to brighten their day.” David Sinuk is the sole founder and creator of Lemonade Smiles. After recently losing his job due to a department-wide layoff, he decided to follow the old adage, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” and launch his own uplifting business based around, you guessed it, lemons. Lemonade Smiles can also be found via social media on Facebook (facebook.com/lemonadesmiles) and Twitter (@lemonadesmiles). Contact: David Sinuk Email Ph: 602-690-6500 SOURCE LemonadeSmiles.com
